Know all Men by these presents that I Francis Haughey of the Town and County of NewCastle and State of Delaware in consideration of the services of Charles Staats to be performed by him for me my heirs Executors and administrators from  the date of these presents until the fifteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve and for divers other good causes and considerations do by these presents for myself my heirs Executors and administrators covenant to and ^with the said Charles to manumit and forever set free him the said Charles upon the said fifteenth day of July in the year last aforesaid. And I do hereby further discharge and acquit the said Charles Staats from all work labour and service either to myself my heirs Executors or Administrators after the said fifteenth day of July in the year aforesaid. NewCastle County Ss. Before me Evan Thomas Esq. one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County personally appeared Francis Haughey Esqr. and acknowledged the within Instrument of Manumission to be his act and deed desiring that the same might be Recorded as such agreeably to an act of assembly in such Case made and provided.
