To all to whom these presents shall shall come Hannah Anderson of the Borough of Wilmington County of NewCastle and State of Delaware Sends Greeting, Know ye that the said Hannah Anderson for divers good causes and considerations here thereunto moving and also for and in consideration of the regard she entertains for her Negro Slave named Katherine Bates hath Manumitted enfranchised renounced and redeemed from Slavery and forever set Free, and by these presents doth manumit enfranchise renounce & release redeem and forever set free her said Negro Slave named Katherine Bates To have and to hold to her the said Negro Slave her full free manumission enfranchisement emancipation and freedom from the twenty first day of September A.D. 1808 fully freely and absolutely for her own proper use behoof and benefit or profit forever subject to no labour service or servitude in or for the benefit or profit of her the said Hannah Anderson her heirs Executors or Administrators or any or either of them at any time hereafter so that neither her the said Hannah Anderson or any of her heirs or administrators or either of them or any other person or persons whomsoever claiming or to claim by from or under her them or any of them can or shall have any right title interest or property of in or to the said Negro Slave Named Katherine Bates or to her servitude or any benefit advantage or emolument there from but from thenceforth she the said Hannah Anderson her heirs executors and administrators shall and will be therefrom forever barred and excluded by these presents. Be it Remembered that on this twentieth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight before me Edward Roche Esqr. one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County of NewCastle Personally appeared Hannah Anderson and acknowledged the within deed of Manumission to be her act and deed In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written.
