Know all Men by these Presents that I Mary Redding of the Borough of Wilmington County of NewCastle and State of Delaware Widow, Have and by the Presents do Manumit Enfranchise and release from slavery a certain negro boy named Harry Ruly, my property, now aged Ten years and one month. To have and hold his full free and absolute Manumission and release from slavery when he shall arrive at the age of Twenty eight years. He the said Harry Ruly faithfully serving and that Honestly and obediently in all things as a faithful servant ought to do, from the day of the date of these Presents for the Term of seventeen years & eleven months unto me the said Mary Redding my Heirs and Assigns. Be it Remembered That on this Thirteenth day October eighteen hundred and twelve, Before me Edward Roche one of the Justics of the Peace in and for NewCastle County, Personally came Mary Redding of the Borough of Wilmington, and acknowledged the within Manumission to be her Act and Deed.
