Will Julia Gunby 1901

Julia Gunby Last Will and Testament:

In the name of God, amen: I, Julia Gunby of Georgetown Delaware do make this my last will and testament revoking all wills hereto- fore made by me. 

Item, I hereby direct the my real and personal property which I may have at my decease shall all be sold by my executor hereinafter named, and after the payment of my just debts I dispose of as follows, I give to my son John the sum of eighty dollars, and the balance to be equally divided between my six grand children, children of my said son John namely, Thomas, Edward, Julia Laura Adietter and Oscar.

I hereby appoint Joseph F Adams executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 8th day of November A D 1901. Julia Gunby her mark {seal}

Signed, sealed and declared by the testatrix as her last will & testament in our presence who at her Request and in her presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto Jos T Adams Elisha G Ryon

State of Delaware Sussex County SS Be it remembered that on the 14th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight, before me Thomas R Purnell Register for the probate of wills and granting letters of Administration appeared Elisha G Ryon one of the subscribing witnesses to the within and foregoing instrument of writing, purporting to be the last will and testament of Julia Gunby late of the county aforesaid deceased: and being solemnly sworn on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God, deposit and saith that he saw the said Julia Gunby the testatrix sign the said instrument of writing, and heard her publish pronounce and declare the same as and for her last will and testament: that at the doing thereof she was of a sound and disposing mind and memory, and upwards of twenty-one years of age, that this deponent attested and subscribed his name as witness to the said instrument of writing at the instance and in the presence of the said Julia Gunby testatrix.

State of Delaware Sussex County SS. Be it remembered that on the 14th day of February AD 1908 before me Thomas R Purnell, Register for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the County aforesaid appeared John H Hammond who being sworn in due form of law, deposit and saith that he knew Joseph F Adams, whose name is subscribed as a witness to the above and foregoing instrument of writing, purporting to be the last will and testament of Julia Gunby, deceased; that he has frequently seen him write, and is acquainted with his handwriting, and from such knowledge firmly and truly believes that the name of Joseph F Adams signed thereto as aforesaid, is in his own proper handwriting and that the signature thereto is genuine: he  further saith that the said Joseph F Adams is now deceased. Be it remembered that on the 14th day of February AD 1908 the aforesaid last will and testament of the aforesaid Julia Gunby, deceased (of which the above and foregoing is a true copy) was proven by the subscribing witness now living and by proof of the handwriting of the deceased witness (of which affidavits the above are true copies) and the same was allowed by the Register, and on the 14th day of February AD 1908 Letters of Administration CFA were granted unto Elisha G Ryon who was sworn and gave bond with Robert Short as surety in the penal sum of Four Hundred Dollars.
