Know all Men by these presents that I Mary McMechan of the village of Christiana Bridge in the County of NewCastle and State of Delaware Widow. Have this day manumitted and set free from Slavery my negro Girl Matilda Miller now aged about three years and I do hereby manumit and set free from Slavery my negro Girl Matilda. Provided nonetheless that my said Negro Girl Matilda shall and do well and truly serve Captain James R Callender of the City of Philadelphia his heirs Executors and administrators, for and during and to the full and term of Twenty years, fully to be complete and ended: as an honest and faithful servant ought to do, at the expiration of which term she the said Matilda shall be intirely free from me as well as from the said Captain James R. Callender his heirs Executors and administrators. He the said Captain James R Callender his heirs Executors or administrators providing and procuring for her the said Matilda during the aforesaid Term of Twenty years good wholesome and sufficient meat drink washing lodging and Cloathing suitable for such a servant. And I do quit all further claim of and to the said negro Girl Matilda for myself, my heirs & Executors and Administrators or of any person or persons claiming for or on behalf of me my Heirs Executors or Administrators. State of Delaware NewCastle County Set. Be it remembered that on the 28th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten. Before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid personall came and appeared this within subscribing Mary McMechen and acknowledged the within manumission to be her act and deed.
