Know All Men by these presents that I George Stroud of the hundred and County of NewCastle and State of Delaware from motives of benevolence and humanity have Manumitted and do Manumit and set free from Slavery my Negro boy Alexander Lomus Aged ten years the thirtieth day of March next insuing on condition however that he doth forthwithly and with my consent bind himself by Indenture to serve John R Stroud his heirs or assigns untill he shall obtain the age of twenty one years. And I do hereby give grant and release unto the said negro Boy Alexander Lomus all my right title claim of in and to his person labour and services and of in and to the estate and property which he may hereafter acquire or obtain excepting only his services to the aforesaid John R. Stroud in manner or during the term or times above mentioned. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of February in the year eighteen hundred and twenty 1820. Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of us and at his request hereunto Subscribed our names as witnesses thereunto
Be it Remembered that on the third day of February eighteen hundred and twenty: Before me Saml. Moore one of the Justices of the Peace in and for New Castle County personally came George Stroud above named and acknowledged the above Manumission to be his act and deed; and requested that the same be recorded. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of February 1820.
