Be it remembered That I Scotland Hill, being weak of body but of sound mind do make this my last Will and Testament. It is my will that all my Just Debts bepaid soon after my decease. I give to my wife Alice during her life the use Interest and Income of all of my Estate and it is my will that at her death the said Estate be equally divided between my three GrandChildren, James Milburn and Alice Millburn and in case of the Death of both of my Grand Children under age and without Issue. It is my will and I do ^give and bequeath all the said Estate to William Peal in trust that he do within one year after their death pay the same to the Treasurer for the timebeing of the African Union Church of Wilmington to be at the Entire Disposal of the Trustees thereof and their successors forever.
I appoint Evan Lewis and Samuel Shilles [?] to be the Executors of this my will. Witness my hand & Seal this fifth Day of Second Month A.D. in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen. Scotland Hill his mark {seal}
Signed, Sealed Pronounced and declared by the Testator to be his Will in the presence of us. Edward Gilpin John F Gilpin
New Castle County Ss. Personally appeared John F Gilpin one of the subscribing witnesses to the above Will who upon his solemn affirmation did say that he saw Scotland Hill the Testator (by way of making his mark) the same having been first distinctly read to him sign and seal the above Instrument of writing, and heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament. That at the time of his so doing he was (to the best of his belief) of Sound Disposing mind and memory. That it was at the request of the Testator and in his presence he subscribed his name As a witness thereto and at the same time saw Edward Gilpin subscribe his name as another witness to the same.
