Election of Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church 1824

Ten days notice being given bearing date September 2nd 1824 To the members of methodist Episcopal Church, meeting at a place designated by the name of White House, for the purpose of choosing Seven Trustees for said Society, and to be Trustees of the Coloured members of said Society, agreeable to the 2nd Section of the act respecting the Incorporation of Churches, do proceed to elect, constitute and appoint the following persons as Trustees. Viz Alexander Lea, James Williams, Isaac Carter, Samuel Jefferson, Isaac Cook, William Shippey, and James Parker. And the members present declared that the above mentioned persons should be the Trustees agreeable to Said act, and desired that the same might be recorded as such, the above named persons then proceeded to elect a President and Secretary whereupon James Williams was Elected President and Alexander Lea Secry & The President having then assumed the chair a notion was then made, to proceed to name the House and it was agreed that it Should be designated and Known by the name of Lees Chappel, and  that then Seal Should be Known by the Cypher L.
