Manumission Leah Dyer and others from Frances Asbury Boyer
Know all men by these Presents that I Frances Asbury Boyer student of Medicine, now of Camden, Kent County State of Delaware; do hereby manumit and set absolutely free my Negroes in the state of Maryland or elsewhere, the male negroes at the age of twenty five years, the females at the age of twenty one, so that after the age of twenty five all the male negroes as before expressed are to be absolutely free, all the females to be free at the age of Twenty one and my negro woman Leah Dyer to be absolutely free from this date; she being twenty five years of age; and all her children, the males at twenty five and the females children at the age of twenty one, and all their issue to be free as they come to the age of twenty one and eighteen as all white persons children are considered of age at that time, the children of my negro woman I do not recollect the names of them but all of them to be free at the age before expressed
My negro man Levin Dyer about the of twenty one years to be free, after he serves or my assigns three years and an half good and faithful service, he being at this time run away from me is the cause, the he is so put to serve the term of three years and an half, whenever I can find him or get him, which is no longer than the others slaves I have set free have to serve: and my Boy Joseph White aged about sixteen years to be free at twenty five, The Above negroes being part of them in the State of Maryland and the others in the State of Delaware which I do now agreeably to the Laws of the state of Delaware set them free as they arrive to the above ages, Warranting the said negroes to be absolutely free from me & my heirs and from all and every or persons whatsoever, that may claim them or any wise abstract their being free, as all other free negroes are in the State of Delaware or elsewhere, and that I bind myself and my heirs to have this same Manumission acknowledged and recorded agreeably) to an act of Assembly of the State of Delaware, made and provided, to be recorded at Dover for the confermation of all and every part of this Manumission to be fully and compleatly executed and recorded as before expressed, I doth these presents affix my hand and seal this twenty Sixth day of October, eighteen hundred and ten 1810. State of Delaware Kent County Ss} I hereby certify that on the twenty sixth day of october in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten personally came Francis A. Boyer before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for said County and did subscribe his to the within Manumission and acknowledged the same as his act and deed and delivered the same for the use and purpose herein mentioned given under my hand and seal the day and year above mentioned_ Benj Brady
