The last will and testament of John Hanson
In the Name of God Amen, I John Hanson of St Georges Hundred New Castle County and State of Delaware being weak in Body but of Sound Memory blessed be God do this day ^March 6th in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three make and publish this my last Will and Testament in the manners following that is to say first I allow all the lots of Now belonging ^to me on Agustine is to be sold either at public or private Sale as soon as convenient Reserving one for the us of the farm situate adjoining Woolf Iseland Including about 3 acres of the Iseland also all my lots situate on Silver run Reserving one not included within the Bank – likewise it is my will that my Negros are to serve as here after stated & then to be free Viz Adam to be free agreeable to his Manimation Solamon to serve Eleven years James 13 years David 17 years Jane 11 years, and it is also My will that such a part of the Negroes and other movable property as may be found nesesary shall also be sold_ and also it is My will that after my just debts are all paid that the residue of My property be equaly divided among my Children- and like wis it is my will that my family Move on the isla formerly the property of Mary Vandyke Deed and ocupy it for thier own use in such a Manner as may suit best, – and also I make and ordain William McConaughy of the State County and Hundred aforesaid sole Executor of this my last Will in trust for the intent and purposes in this my Will contained in Witness where of I the said John Hanson have to this my last will and Testament set my hand and seal the day and year above Written. NewCastle County, Ss Before me personally appeared Patrick McConaughey and William Hanson the two subscribing witnesses to the within Will who being solemnly sworn, on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God, did say, that they saw John Hanson, the Testator, sign and seal the within Instrument of writing; and heard him publish, pronounce, and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament, that at the time of his so doing, he was (to the best of their belief) of sound disposing mind and memory; and that it was at the request, and in the presence of the Testator, and of each other, they severally subscribed their names thereto as witnesses.
