In the Name of God Amen I George Prettyman of the County of Sussex and State of Delaware, being Weake in Body, but of sound memory Blessed by god do this 5th day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven make and Publish this my Last will and Testament in manner following, that is to say –
First I Give to my Loving Wife Martha the sum of seventy two pounds out of my personal Estate and to be applied by my Executors hereafter named in Discharge of a Bond Given by my said ^wife and her Late Husband Allen Read Deceased to Margaret and Amy Warrington Children of Joseph Warrington and no other Purpose. Also I Give to my said wife for and During her widowhood the use of three Negroes one Negro Woman named Leah, one Negro Man named Peter one Negro Girl named Annice and my Will and Desire is that after the Death or marriage of my said Wife that Negro Leah shall go to and be the property my Daughter Nancy Morris, and that Negro Peter shall Go to and be the property of my son Thomas and also that Negro Annice go to and be the Property of my Daughter Unice to them their heirs and assigns for Ever. I Give to my said Daughter Unice one good feather Bed and furniture to her her heirs and Assigns for Ever. Also I Give to my Daughter Lovenah Marvel one Negro Girl Named Hannah to her her heirs and Assigns forever. Also I Give and Bequeath to my son Zachereah Prettyman all that Tract of Land where now Dwells on Known by the name of Kollechs Choice lying on the South side of Sheep Pen Branch to him his heirs and Assigns for Ever in and Likewise I Give to my said son Zachereah all my Whearing apparel. Also I Give to my Youngest sons Wingate Prettyman and Burton Prettyman all the residue of my Lands lying on Tusaca Branch that is to say all lying on the South side to my son Wingate and all on the north- side to my son Burton and the run of the said Branch to be Devision Between them to them thare heirs and Assigns forever. And also all the residue of my Personal Estate to be Devided Between my three Youngest Children in Manner following, that is to say son Wingate is to have one half and the other half to be equally Devided Between my Daughter Unice and my son Burton to them thare heirs and assigns for Ever. And I make and ordain my Loving wife Martha and my Beloved son Zackereah whole and sole Executrix and Executor of this my Will In Trust for the intents and Purposes in this my will Contained In Witness Whereof I the said George Prettyman have to this my Last will and Testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written. Sussex County Sst. Memorandum this 18th day of April 1804 Before me Phillips Kollock Register appointed for the Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administration for the County Afsd Appeared Joseph Warrington and Isaac McDowell two of the Witnesses to the within Will Subscribing who being sworn on the Holy Evangels of Almighty god Deposeth and saith that in their sight presence and hearing the Testator George Prettyman did sign seal publish pronounce and Delare the within Instrument of writing to be his Last Will and Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of a sound Disposeing mind memory and Judgment to the Best of their Knowledge and that they and each of them with Peter Robinson signed the same as, Evidences in the presence of the Testator and at his Request – Phillips Kollock Regr
