Manumission Negro Peter Craig from John Craig 1820

I John Craig of Kent County in the State of Delaware; do hereby manumit and Set absolutely free my negro man Peter alias Peter Craig Born the Second day of March Seventeen hundred and ninety two is About five feet ten inches high is not remarkably black nor inclining to yellow has a stiff finger on his right hand and a Small car on the back of his neck occasioned by a Scaton has at this time a small white Speck or blemish in his left Eye: so that henceforth he the Said Peter Shall be deemed adjudged and taken as and for a free person as fully as though he had been free born: and is now at liberty and his own disposal to act for himself as a free man without the Lett, hindrance or Molestation of my self or any person or persons claiming by from or under me forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my seal this first day of February in the year of our Lord, Eighteen Hundred and Twenty. 1820. John Craig {seal}

Kent County sst. Personally appeared John Craig before me the subscriber one of the justices of the peace in and for said County and acknowledged the above and foregoing Manumission to be his act and Deed agreeably to an act of the General Assembly of the State of Delaware in Such case made and provided Given under my hand at Dover the 4th day of February A.D. 1820.
