Will Sarah Allee 1789

In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Allee of Duck creek hundred in the County of Kent and State of Delaware, do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following viz

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Comegys one negro girl named Hanah, being the same that now lives with her also the choice of my beds and furniture and the dressing table now in the chamber.

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Allee one negro girl named Mary one bed and furniture to have her choice next after her Sister Elizabeth, my best half dozen of Walnut chairs, one Walnut tea table, one Mahogany chest of drawers one half dozen china plates one looking glass now in the parlor chamber, and one rush bottomed Couch.

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Conner one negro Girl named Phean

Item I give bequeath to my grand daughter Mary Conner one negro Girl named Jude.

Item I give devise and bequeath to my Son Abraham Allee one negro Woman named Elizabeth, and her infant child named David, one negro boy named Jack one ovel Walnut table, one Desk, one eight day clock, one large looking Glass, and the bed and furniture on which I usually sleep, together with all and singular the rest and residue of my real Estate and personal Estate, when and where soever the same may be to him my said Son Abraham his Heirs and Assigns forever.

Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my brother Doctr James Tilton and my Nephew James Morris Executors of this my last Will and Testament, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty Nine 1789. Sarah Allee {seal}

Signed Sealed published pronounced and Declared by the Testatrix as and for her last Will & Testament in the presence of the Subscribing Witnesses who at her instance and request & in her presence & in the presence of each other Subscribed their names as Witnesses thereto. Delaware State Ss. Personally appeared before me Francis Many Esqr Register for the probate of Wills & granting Letters of Administration in and for the County of Kent Nehemiah Tilton one of the Subscribing Evidences to the foregoing Will and upon his Solemn Oath do say that he saw Sarah Allee the within named Testatrix sign Seal and ^heard her publish pronounce and declare the Same as and for her last Will and Testament that at the ^time of her so doing and Saying she was to the best of his belief of Sound disposing mind memory and Understanding that at the like Instance and request and in her presence he Signed and Saw Lydia Tilton at the like Instance & request Sign her name as Witness thereto. In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto Set my hand at Dover the 26th day of October anno Dom 1789 Francis Many Regr.

James Tilton Esqr being present Consented to Letters being granted to James Morris his nephew this 26th day of October 1789 Francis Many Regr.

Be it Remembered that on the Twenty sixth day of October anno Domini Seventeen hundred and Eighty Nine The Last Will and Testament of Sarah Allee deceased was proved and approved in due form and Letters Testamentary Granted to James Morris who being Solemnly affirmed gave bond in One thousand pounds with Nehemiah Tilton for his faithful performance thereof agreeable to Law. An Inventory of Goods and Chattles belon[g]ing to Sarah Allee deceased begun to be taken by us the subscribers this 5th day of January Anno Domini 1790 –
