Manumission from Joel Clements Negro Teaney Louisa 1835

State of Delaware Kent: To all persons to whome these presents may come Know ye that I Joel Clements of Kent County and State aforesaid for divers good cause and considerations me thereunto moveing have emancipated set free and by these presents do emancipate, enfranchise and set free the following negro girl named Teaney Louisa aged eight yers the first of October next ensuing the date hereof to be free and at her liberty from and after the first day of October eighteen hundred and fifty seven 1857. And I do hereby bind myself my heirs, executors and administrators and every of them the freedom of the aforesaid girl, and her increase should She have any the males to be free at the age of twenty eight and the females at the age of twenty five; To warrant and defend from me, my heirs, executors and administrators and every of them. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of August eighteen hundred and thirty five 1835. Joel Clements {seal}

Signed & Sealed and delivered in the presents of F. A. Raybold

State of Delaware to wit: Be it remembered that on the 19th day of Augt. Eighteen hundred and thirty five the. Above named Joel Clements came before me the subscriber and Associate Judge of the State of Delaware and acknowledged the above deed of emancepation to be his Act and deed and the negro girl Teaney Louisa mentioned above to be free according to the true intent and meaning of the same. Given under my hand the day and year aforesaid. S.M. Harrington

I received this manumission to record this twenty third day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five. H. Todd Recr.
