Know all men by these presents that I Sarah V Philips late of Sussex and now of Kent County & State of Delaware from motives of benevolence and humanity have manumitted and hereby do manumit and set free from slavery my negro girl Mary Ann Taimer when she arrives at the age of twenty eight years and I do hereby give grant and release unto the said Mary Ann Taimer all my right title and claim to her after she arrives at the above age of her person, labour and service, and of, in and to the estate and property which she may acquire or obtain after the above age. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 9th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five. Sarah V. Philips {seal}
