Know all men by these presents that I Sarah V. Philips late of Sussex and now of Kent County and State of Delaware from motives of benevolence and humanity, have manumitted and hereby do manumit and set free from Slavery my negro boy Trustin Handy when he arrives at the age of twenty eight years, and I do hereby give, grant and release unto the said Trustin Handy all my right title and claim to him after he arrives at the above age of his person, labour and Service and of, in and to the estate and property which he may acquire or obtain after the above age. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 9th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five. Sarah V. Philips {seal]
