This Indenture made this thirteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three Witnesseth That Joseph Jenkins one of the Justices of the Peace for Kent County in the State of Delaware and Nathaniel Coombe one of the Justices of the poor of Kent County in Said State have put and County and by these Presents do put and bind Anthony Blackston a male black child who has no father in the State and whose mother nothing left Sufficient for to Support and bring him up to Industry and Suitable employment and who is now of the age of Seven years one Month and Sixteen days old as nearly as can be ascertained as a Servant to Stephen Gibbs of Dover hundred In Kent County and State of Delaware farmer his executors administrators and assigns for and during and until the full end and term of thirteen years ten month, and fourteen days from the day of the date here of the Said Anthony Blackston free negro boy to Serve the Said Stephen Gibbs his executors administrators and assigns as a Servant for the term aforesaid or until he Shall arrive at the age of twenty one years if that Shall happen Sooner then the expiration of the term aforesaid and no longer And the Said Stephen Gibbs for himself his executors administrators and assigns do hereby contract covenant and agree to teach the Said Anthony Blackston poor boy as aforesd the art & mystery of farming to the best of his skill knowledge and ability and also he is to give the Said Antony twelve months Schooling during his term of Servitude & to well Support and Clothe the Said Anthony Blackston minor So aforesd. during the term of his Servitude and at the regular expiration of the Said term to furnish the Said Anthony Blackston with two suits of clothes Suitable to his condition one of which shall be new and six months of the twelve months Schooling as above mentioned Shall be given him in the two last years of his term of Servitude. In witness whereof the Said Joseph Jenkins & Nathaniel Coombe acting together in their respective capacities of Justice of the peace as and trustee of the poor aforesaid and the Said Stephen Gibbbs being all present & together have hereunto in the presence of each other Set their hand and Seals the day and year herein before first written. For value received I Stephen Gibbs do hereby transfer assign and set over, the above Indenture, and all the unexpired services of the above named Anthony Blackiston to Isaac Gibbs his Executors administrators and assigns. And I the said Isaac Gibbs do hereby accept the said assignment, and do bind myself my Executors and administrators to fulfil and perform all and singular the covenants and stipulations in the above Indenture contained on the part of the said Stephen Gibbs to be done and performed.
