Negro John Manumission from John Grewill 1833

Know all men by these presents that I John Grewill of Kent county and State of Delaware for motives of benevolence and humanity have manumitted and do hereby manumit and Set free from Slavery my Negro man named John aged thirty four years the twenty eighth day of August last past that was in the year 1832 he being of a healthy constitution Sound in mind and boddy  and capable by labour to procure to himself Sufficient food and raiment with other requisites necessaries of life from and after the twenty eighth day of August A.D. one thousand and eight hundred and thirty three. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my Seal this Seventeenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and thirty three. John Grewell {seal}

The State of Delaware SS. Kent County — Be it remembered that on this twenty fourth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three the above named John Grewell personally came before the Subscriber and associate Judge of the State of Delaware and acknowledged the above instrument of Manumission to be his Deed. Given under my hand and Seal at Dover the day and year aforesaid S.M. Harrington a J.
