To all whom it may concern be it known that I Joseph Hoffecker of Duck creek hundred in the County of Kent and State of Delaware for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do hereby release from Slavery liberate manumit and Set free and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery liberate Manumit and Set free my two negro Slaves viz George Manlove from all Manner of Service or Servitude from me or any person or persons claiming by through or under me from and after the twenty Second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand thousand eight hundred and forty eight he the Said George Manlove Serving me or any person lawfully claiming by through or under me as a faithful and dutiful Servant for the term of Sixteen years from the day of the date hereof he the Said George Manlove being now Nineteen years of age and I also release Susannah Stephens from all Manner of Service or Servitude from me or any person or persons claiming by through or under me from and after the twenty Second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine She the Said Susanah Stephens Serving me or any person claiming lawfully by through or under me as a  faithful and dutiful Servant for the term of Seventeen years from the day of the date hereof She the Said Susannah Stephens being now Eighteen years of age. In Testimony I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Twenty Second day of March A.D one thousand Eight hundred and thirty two 1832. Joseph Hoffecker {seal}

Kent County SS Be it remembered That on the twenty Second day of March A D 1832 Before the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for Kent County personally appeared Joseph Hoffecker and acknowledged that the above manumission is his act and deed. Wm. A. Budd Jus. P.
