Know all men by these presents that I Clement Morriss of the village of Milford Kent County and State of Delaware for divers good Causes and Considerations me hereunto moving do hereby Manumit enfranchise and absolutely set free my negro Girl named Rachel Morris from and after the tenth day of February Eighteen hundred and thirty five at which time she will be about Twenty five years of age and the the aforesaid Rachel to Serve me my heirs or assigns untill the aforesaid tenth day of February Eighteen hundred and thirty five and then to be free and at her perfect liberty and I the aforesaid Clement Morris do hereby warrant and defend the liberty and freedom of the aforesaid Rachel Morriss from the lawful Claim of me my heirs executors and administrators and every other person or persons claiming by from or under me In testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Eight day of August anno domini 1828. State of Delaware Kent County Before me Molton Rickard’s one of the Justices assigned to keep the peace in and for the County aforesaid on the Eight day August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight personally appeared the within named Clement Morris in his proper person and did Acknowledge and declare the within Manumission of his Negro Girl Rachel Morris therein named and mentioned to be his act and Deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal Molton Rickards
