Negro Tobias Benson Manumission from John Travers 1821

Know all men by these presents that I John Travers of Mispillion Hundred Kent County and State of Delaware do hereby set free and discharge Tobias Benson Negro heretofore the Slave of my father and afterward my slave from all claim and demand which I may have to him or his Service and declare that the Said Tobias shall here= after be entitled to all the privileges and immunities of a free negro he being now about twenty five years of age. Witness my hand and Seal this twenty first day of March 1821. John Travers {seal}

Kent County, sst. Be it known that on this 21 day of March 1826 personally came John Travers before me Jacob Furbee one of the justices of the peace for Said County and acknowledged the above manumission to be his act and Deed and desired it might be recorded as Such. Jacob Furbee
