To all People to whom these Presents shall Come Know ye that I Nancy Hickman of the County of Sussex and State of Delaware (widow) owner of a certain negro Man named Moses, and Forty five years or thereabouts, fore and in consideration of the sum of Ninety Dollars, lawful money of the United States of America to me in hand paid, or secured to be paid by the Reverent James Wiltbank of the same County the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and am therewith satisfied contented and paid, Have granted bargained and sold and by these Presents do grant bargain sell and deliver to the said James Wiltbank his heirs and assigns for the Term of Four years the aforesaid negro man Moses with all and singular his wearing Apparel. to have and to hold the said Negro man named Moses unto the said James Wiltbank his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns from and after the day of the date hereof, to the full end and Term of Four yeares, next ensuing, to be fully ended and compleated To the sold and only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said James Wiltbank his heirs and Assigns, And I the said Nancy Hickman for myself, my Heirs, Executors Administrators and every of them do covenant and agree to and with the said James Wiltbank his heirs Executors Administrators and Assig. to Warrant & Defend the said negro man ^named Moses from and against the lawful claim or claims of All and every Person or Persons whatsoever during the said Term of four years, And at the Expiration of said Term of Four years The said Nancy Hickman do hereby fully and absolutely Manumit, discharge and set Free and at Liberty the said negro man named Moses to be discharged from me and all manner of Persons claiming under me and fully and completely to enjoy his his Liberty and act in all cases as a Freeman. This Bill of Sale and Manumission was assigned over to Thomas Rodney from James Wiltbank For & in consideration of the sum of Eighty Dollars to me will & truly paid by Thomas Rodney of Lewes in Delaware I do hereby assign & make over unto the said Thomas Rodney his Heirs and Assigns the time & service of the within mentioned negro man Moses untill the twelth day of April 1801 or two years & Eight months from this time hereby agreeing to discharge the said Moses from the remainder of the time within mentioned.
