State of Delaware to wit. To all Persons to whome these presents May come Know ye that I Joel Clements of Kent County and State aforesaid for divers good causes and considerations me there= unto moving have Emancipated and Set free and by these presents do Emancipate Imphanchise and Set free the following negro to wit negro Jefferson Johnson aged about twenty years to be free and at his liberty from and after the first day of January Eighteen hundred and thirty three And I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors and administrators and every of them the freedom of the aforesaid boy to warrent and defend from me and my heirs Executors and Administrators and every of them and from all and every other Person Whatsoever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Second day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty Six. Joel Clements {seal}

State of Delaware, to wit, Be it remembered that on the 7th day of Jany one thousand Eight hundred twenty Six the above named Joel Clements came before me the Subscriber and acknowleged the above Deed of Emancipation to be his act and Deed and the negro Jefferson Johnson mentioned to be free according to the true intent and meaning of the Same Signed Sealed & acknowledged the date above written. before Chas. Kimmey
