State of Delaware Kent County  Be it remembered that I Andrew Patten of Murderkill Hundred Kent County in the state of Delaware For diverious good causes and Considerations me hereto Moving Have Manumated Emancipated Liberated and set free A Certain Negro Woman by the name Jane Hopkins as also her five Children, Viz. Ruth wood and Absalom Wood Children which she had by her first Husband and then Isaac Hopkins Ann Hopkins and William Hopkins, these being Children by the Last Husband All being being slaves of me the said Andrew Patten and heare by Declare the said Jane Hopkins Ruth wood, Absolem wood, Isaac Hopkins Ann Hopkins and william Hopkins to be free and at liberty from the day of the date Here off In witness whereof I the said Andrew Patten have here unto set my hand and seal this seventh day of February Eighteen Hundred and eighteen. 1818. State of Delaware Kent County I do hereby Certify that Levi Wolcott one of the subscribing Witnesses to the above Manumation Personally appeared before me Thomas Price one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County and made oath that he was Andrew Patten sign and seal the said Manumission and heard him acknowledge the same to be his act and Deede and that he the said Levi Walcott subscribed his name as witness and saw George White sign his Name a witness in the presence of the said Andrew Patten, In testimony where of I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal the fourteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Eighteen. 1818.
