Know all men by these presents that I William Jones of Smyrna in Kent County and State of Delaware (brick layer) for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereto moveing have Manumitted enfranchised and Set free and by these presents do manumate enfranchize and set free the following Negroes my Negro Woman named Nancy Spencer to be free from the date of these presents and her three children named William, Rachel and Sally Ann hereby to be free exonerated and forever discharged from the service of my self my heirs executors and assigns – In witness whereof I have here unto Set my hand and affixed my Seal this 29th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & Eighteen 1818. Kent County Sst. Be it Remembered that on the fifteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Nineteen the above named William Jones appeared before me James Schee one of the Justices of the peace of the State of Delaware for Kent County and did acknowledge the above Manumission as his act and Deed for the use and purposes therein mentioned. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and
