Negros Eleoner Harmon & James Henry Tobias Manumission from Isaac Tobias 1816

Know all men by these presents that I Isaac Tobias of the Town of  Dover Kent County and State of Delaware a free man of Colour and by Trade a Blacksmith for divers good causes and considerations me there unto moving, have emancipated liberated and set free my daugter Eleoner Harmon wife of Daniel Harmon and her son James Henry Tobias whom I purchased as Slaves from a certain Sarah Fauntleroy by whom they were held in Slavery and by these presents do emancipate liberate and set free my daughter the Said Eloner Harmon and her Son the Said James Henry Tobias And I do forever Release and discharge the Said Eloner Harmon and her Son James Henry Tobias from the claim and title forever of myself my heirs Executors and administrators and of every of them so that from time to time and all times forever hereafter the Said Eleanor Harmon and James Henry Tobias shall and each of them may enjoy all the rights and priveledges of free people of colour according to the Laws and customs of the State of Delaware and of any other State in the united States of America. In Witness where of I the Said Isaac Tobias hath hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Sixteen. Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of John Clarke Joseph Harper

Kent County Sst. Be it Remembered that on this twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Sixteen the above named Isaac Tobias appeared before me James Schee one of the Justices of the peace of the State of Delaware for Kent County and did acknowledge the above Manumission as his act and Deed for the use and purposes therein mentioned In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my Seal the day and yeare above Written James Schee {seal}
