State of Delaware Kent County Sst. Personally appeared before me James Millechop one of the Justices of the peace in & for the said County, Thomas Abbott of Sussex County State Afsd aged about thirty three years and being in due manner sworn doth depose and say That the bearer here of Jonathan Draper Negro aged about nineteen years about five feet nine inches high yellowish Complection with a scar above his right Eye occasioned by a hurt when he was a Child, midling slender and striaght built was born the property of his mother who give him the Said Jonathan to his own mother when he was an infant & hath never since laid any Claim to him and that the said Jonathan is perfectly free from all persons to to his certain knowledge, he the said Deponant having known him ever since his birth. And further the Said Deponant Saith not. Thomas Abbott
Taken & Subscribed before me the said Justice at my office in Milford this 10th May 1817. J W. Millechop

Be it Remembered that the above named and described Negro is perfectly free and entitled to all the liberties and privileges granted by law to free negroes and free mulattoes and at Liberty to pass and repass to & from without hindrance or Molestation. In Testimony Where of I have set my hand & seal this 10 day of May A.D. 1817. J??? Millechop one of the Justices of the peace in & for the Said County
