Know all men by these presents that I James Finsthwait of Mispillion hundred, Kent County and State of Delaware, for divers good causes and considerations, do by these presents manumit, liberate and set free, a certain negro woman named Catharine Cohee aged forty years or thereabouts, and do hereby further agree, that the said Catharine Cohee, from this date shall be intitled to and injoy all the rights, priviledges and immunities, which a free negro or mulatto may or can have or injoy by the laws of this state. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this twenty third day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen. 1815. James Finsthwait {seal}

Be it Remembered, that James Finsthwait, appeared before me John Lowber, one of the Justices of the peace for said County, and acknowledged the above Indenture, to be his act and deed for the use and purpose therein mentioned.
