Manumission Negro Robert from James Finsthwait 1815

Know all men by these presents that I James Finsthwait of Mispillion hundred, Kent County, in the State of Delaware for divers good causes and considerations, do by these presents manumit, liberate and set free a negro man Named Robert, which formerly belonged to the estate of Matthew Clark, which said negro I sold to Waitman Willey of New Castle County in said  State, on the thirteenth day of April one thousand eight hundred and fourteen for the term of five years, and I do hereby further agree that the said Robert, from the expiration of the said five years Shall be intitled to and injoy all the rights, priviledges and imunities, which a free negro or mulatto, may or can have, or injoy by the laws of this State In testimony whereof, I have hereunto Set my hand, and affixed my Seal, this twenty third day of June one thousand eight hundred & fifteen. State of Delaware Kent County Sst. Be it known, that James Finshwait appeared before me John Lowber, one of the Justices of the peace, for said County, and acknowledged, the above manumission to be his act and deed for the use and purpose therein mentioned, Given under my hand and seal at Dover, the 26th day of June A.D. 1815.
