Negro Ruth Manumission from Priscilla Rees 1821

Know all men by these presents that I Priscilla Rees of Duck Creek Hundred Kent County and State of Delaware for divers good Causes and Considerations me there unto moving have and by these presents do hereby manumit and set free my negro woman named Ruth now my Slave from and after the day of my death desiring that she may have all the liberties and priviledges that any free Negro or free Mulatto can or may have by the laws of the State aforesaid. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and Seal this twentieth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Twenty one 1821. Priscilla Rees {seal}

I certify that Priscilla Rees before me and in my presence did Sign Seal and acknowledge the above manumission to be her act and Deed and desired the same to be recorded as such Signed before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for Kent County the twentieth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand and Eight hundred and twenty one 1821.
