Deed Samuel Copper from Aaron Copper & wife 1823

This Indenture made this third day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three Between Aaron Copper and Rebecca his wife (free people of colour) of Murderkill hundred Kent County and State of Delaware of the one part and Samuel Copper a free man of coulor of the same hundred county and State of the other part Witnesseth that the Said Aaron Copper and Rebecca his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred dollars lawful money of the united States to them in hand paid by the said Samuel Copper the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained & sold and by these Presents do grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff release convey and confirm unto him the Said Samuel Copper his heirs and assigns forever all that lot or piece of ground Whereon the said Aaron Copper now lives situate lying and being near the village of Camden in the hundred County and State aforesaid on the road leading from Said village to Thomas Lockwoods tanyard and Willow Grove and on the north side of Said road bounded as follows on the South by Said road on the west by lands of Nathaniel Coombe on the north by lands late the property of Jonathan Hunn deceasd. and on the East by a lot or piece of ground which Said Aaron Copper bought of a certain Benjamin Course & contains one half acre be the same more or less which Said lot or piece of ground so sold as aforesaid the said Aaron Copper bought of a certain Samuel Edmondson. To have and to Hold the aforesaid granted lot & premises with all the houses and appertenances, thereunto belonging unto him the Said Samuel Copper his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the Said Samuel Copper his heirs and assigns forever And the said Aaron Copper and Rebecca his wife do for themselves and their heirs covenant grant and agree to and with the said Samuel Copper his heirs and assigns that they will  warrant and forever defend the Said lot and premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging against themselves their heirs and all manner of persons whatsoever legally claiming or hereafter to claim the Same or any part or parcel thereof by from or under them or either of them In Testimony whereof the Said Aaron Copper and Rebeca his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their Seals the day and year herein before written. Signed, Sealed & delivered in the presence of us. Saml. Mifflin Charles T. Stockley

Received January 3d. 1823 of Samuel Copper one hundred dollars the Consideration money named in the foregoing Indenture which I acknowledge to be in full Witness Aaron Copper his mark. Ch. T. Stockley

State of Delaware Sst. Be it Remembered that on the court day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three before me Jacob Stout one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas of the State of Delaware Aaron Copper and Rebecca Copper his wife named in the foregoing Indenture and parties thereto came in their proper persons and Severally acknowledged the Said Indenture to be their act & deed respectively And I do also certify that the Said Rebecca wife of the Said Aaron Copper being on the Same day and year aforesaid privately examined by me Separate and apart from her Said Husband and out of his hearing She the Said Rebecca Copper did declare and Say that she Signed Sealed and delivered the Said Indenture as her act and Deed willingly and freely without the fear compulsion or ill usage of her said husband or fear of his displeasure.
