Will William Saulsbury 1788

In the Name of God Amen, I William Saulsbury of of Kent Kent County in the State of Delaware being very Sick and Weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following:

Imprimis I give and bequeath my Soul to the Almighty God and as to Such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give devise and dispose of in the manner and form fowlling

I give and bequeath to my Son Thomas Saulsbury and my Son Gove Saulsbury All my Lands in Kent County to be equally devided to them and their heirs forever And in case either of them should die without Lawfull Issue then I give the aforesd Land to my daughter Rebecca Marget and Elinor and their heirs forever

Item, I give and bequeath to my Son William Saulsbury all my lands in Caroline County to him and his Heirs forever and in case he should die Without lawfull Issue then I give the aforesd Land to my three daughters above mentioned and Their Heirs forever

Item I give to my daughter Rebecca one negro Called hanah and her child and 1 yellow Mare 1 bed and furniture

Item I give to my daughter Marget 1 Negro Called Easter 1 Iron Gray Mare 1 Bed and furniture

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Elinor 1 negro Called Poll 1 gray mare 1 Bed and furniture

Item I give to my Son Henry 2 Negro 1 Called Dick ^& another Called Minter

Item I give my negro Woman Rose her freedom forever

Item I leave my Son Henry in the Care of my daughter Rebecca and she the said Rebecca to have the Rents of his lands until he come to age she ediating and Supporting him agreable to his fortune

Item I leave the Rents of Lands given to my Son William to be equally divided Amongst my daughter until he comes to age he to be Educated and Supporting him Agreeable to his Estate Likewise Thomas and Gove to used in the Same manner from the use of their Lands my daughter Rebecca to have the Care of all my lands untill my Sons Come to age

Item I leave my negro David and Comfort to be Sold and the Money to be Equally divided amongst my Children

Item I leave all the rest of my Estate to Equally divided amongst all my children

Lastly I hereby nominate constitute and apouint my daughter Rebecca to be Executor of this my last Will and testament hereby revoking and disanulling all former Wills by me made ratifiing and Confirming this and no Other to be my Last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have here uto Set my hand and Seal this 13th day of Octr 1788. Personally appeared before me Francis Many Esqr Register for the probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the County of Kent Thomas Dawson and George Wilson two of the Subscribing  Witnesses to the Within Instrument of Writing who being Solemnly Sworn do say that they Saw William Saulsbury the Within named Testator Sign and seal and heard him publish pronounce and declare the Within Instrument of Writing As and for his last Will and Testament that at the time of his So doing & Saying he was to the best of their belief of Sound disposing Mind and memory, that they at his Instance and request and in his presence and in the presence of each other Signed their names as Witnesses thereto and at the Same time at the like Instance and request and in his presence also they Saw Abraham Fisher Sign his name (by wWay of ma[king] His Mark) as one Other Witness to the Same. In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto Set my had at Dover the 25th November Anno Domini 1788. Francis Many Regr.

Be it Remembered that on the Twenty Sixth day of November Anno Domni Seventeen hundred and Eighty Eight The last WWill and Testament of William Saulsbury was proved and approved in due form and Letters Testamentary at the Same time granted to Rebecca Saulsbury who at the same time being Sworn gave bond in the Sum of Two thousand pounds with Thomas Bullock and Thomas Smith for the faithful performance thereof agreable to Law.
