Know all men by these presents that I James Deputy of Cedar Creek hundred in the County of Sussex and State of Delaware Doth by these presents Mannumate Emancipate Liberate and set free the following Negro the slave of me the said James Deputy to wit Nancy the Daughter of Charles & Sarah his wife after that she serves twelve years from the first Day of January Eighteen Hundred and Eighteen Nancy being now sixteen years of age Reserving to myself my heirs executors admrs and assigns the servis and labour of the said Negro Nancy for the term of twelve years from the first Day of January 1818 as fully as if this Manumission had not bin made and Executed but where the said Nancy shall have surved the above time of twelve years from the first day of January 1818 She shall then be taken Deemed and considered as a free person to all Intents and purises In witness whereof I the said James Deputy have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of March Eighteen Hundred & Eighteen James Deputy {seal}

Sussex County Ss. Be it remembered that on second day of March one thousand Eight hundred and Eighteen, James Deputy of the county afsd. in the state of Delaware, came before me the subscriber one of the Justices assigned to keep the peace for the county afsd. and did in my presence Sign, Seal, & acknowledge the above and foregoing Manumittion to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned, Given under my hand the day and year first above written.
