Negroes Margarett Dixon & others Manumission from Mary Reynolds 1814

Whereas I Mary Reynals, Widdow and Admr of Michael Reynas Dec become possessed of two people of Colours – viz Margaret Dixon or Peggy Dixon about Ninteen years of age and her daughter Elizabeth Dixon now about four years old the sd. Peggy being in  the Character of a Slave to serve untill she was thirty five yers of age.

Be it known that I Mary Reynals sd. On my own free will and disposition do hereby Manumitt and absolutely sett the said Peggy Dixon free from me and all persons claiming under me to act for herself as other free people and also I do Manumitt and sett free the Said Elizabeth Dixon Reserving her servitude of or for fourteen years or untill she arives to the age of Eighteen years Witness my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of the Sixth month one thousand Eight hundred and fourteen. 29th of 6 mo. 1814. Mary Reynals and acknowledged this instrument of writing for the Manumission of Margarett and Elizabeth Dixon to be her act and deed for the Intent and purposes therein Mentioned and that the Signature and seal thereto are hers.
