Negroes Diniah & others Manumission from Thomas Jackson 1818

Know all men by these presents, that I Thomas Jackson of the  County of Kent and State of Delaware for divers good causes and Considerations me there unto moving do hereby Manumit enfranchize and absolutely set free the following Negroes hereinafter mentioned to wit, Diniah, Stepheney, Alse, Roady and Joseph to be free and at their perfect liberty from the date of these presents and Benjamin son of Roady when he arrives at the age of twenty one years – And I do hereby warrant and defend the liberty and freedom of all the aforesaid Negroes from myself my heirs executors and administrators and from all and every person or persons lawfully Claiming or to Clim by from or under me my heirs executors or administrators. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of  May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Eighteen. Thomas Jackson {seal}

State of Delaware Kent County sst  Be it Remembered that Thomas Jackson appeared before me John Lowber one of  the Justices of the peace for said County and Acknowledged the above Manumission to be his act & Deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. Given under my hand and seal at Dover this 15th day of May one thousand Eight hundred and Eighteen. John Lowber
