Deed from John Darnell & wife to William Herring

This Indenture made the thirtieth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourty four betwene John Darnel Negro and Elizabeth his wife of one part & William Herring of the other part both of Murderkill Hundred Kent County & State of Delaware, Witnessed that the said John Darnel Negro and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the just sum of forty five Dollars lawful money of the State aforesaid to them the said John Darnel & Elizabeth his wife in hand paid by the said William Herring the receipt whereof the said John Darnel & Elizabeth his wife do hereby acknowledg themselves therewith fully satisfied contented & paid have granted, bargained & sold, leased, alliened confirmed & do by these presentes grant bargain sell & release and confirmed unto William Herring his heires & assigns forever to a certain piece of land situated in Murderkill hundred county & State of Delaware aforesaid to be included & contained as follows, viz south and west by land of the said William Herring where he now lives North by the road leading from Canterbury to Barker’s Landing East by a byroade leading from said Canterbury roade to Vridens Mill said to contain four acres be the same more or less together with all singlar house fences ways water ways rentes wrights, titles proffits priveledges hereditaments appertainments whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have & hold the said land premices hereby granted to the said William Herring his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoof of him the said William Herring his heirs & assigns forever and the said John Darnel and Elizabeth his wife hereby garentee against themselves and all other person or persons may or ever after may claim thereunto the said John Darnel & Elizabeth his wife have hereunto set there hands & fixed there seals this thirtieth day of March in the year of one thousand eight hundred forty four. State of Delaware Kent County SS. Be it remembered that on the thirtieth day of third month in the year A.D. eighteen hundred & forty five before the subscriber a Notary & Labellion Public in & for the county & State aforesaid personally appeared John Darnell & Elizabeth his wife named in this Indenture and acknowledged said Indenture to be their act & deed respectively & desired that it might be recorded; And that on the same day the said Elizabeth Darnell wife of the said John Darnel being privately examined by me apart from her husband acknowledged that she executed the said Indenture willingly without compulsion threats or fear of her husbands displeasure.
