This Indenture made the thirteenth day of august in the Eleventh year of the reign of our Sovereign lord george the third by the grace of god of great of Britain France and Ireland Kingdefender of the faith &tc annhoque domini seventeen hundred and seventy one Between Reuben Philipsand Nancy his wife Both of the County of Kent on Delaware negroes now free of the one part, and Vincent Loockerman Jun of dover hundred in the County of Kent afs..d yeoman of the other part. Whereas Nicholas Loockerman grandfather to the said Vincent, lat of the same place dec..d by his last will and Testament bearing date October ye 31st day anon domino seventeen hundred and sixty five did set and declare the said Reuben and Nancy his wife free and at Liberty having been there sometime heretofore the property of the said Nicholas Loockerman as slaves, and also did divide unto the said Reuben and Nancy Jointly, the priviledge of thirty acres of ground in ye following Words Viz: I Give and Bequeath unto my negro an Reuben and his wife Nancy thirty acres of Land during their and each of their natural lives, part of the plantation whereon I now dwell to be Laid off to them by my Executors at the place where James Logan lately dwelt fifteen acres whereof is to be Clear ground, Including the house thereon and a small piece of Cripple and the Remainder Wood Land &c (Interlinia, as by the said Will Reference thereunto being had may appear, and the said Reuben Philips and Nancy his his wife being hereby About to release and Convey unto the said Vicent Loockerman Junr his heirs and assigns for^ever all their right title and claim to the said thirty acres. Now this Indenture witnessed that the said Reuben Philips and Nancy his wife for and in Consideration of the Just and fun sum of fifteen Pounds good and Lawfull mony of this Government to them in hand paid by the said Vincent Loockerman June the receipt Whereof they ye said Reuben and Nancy his wife do hereby acknowledge and themselves therewith fully satisfied Contented and paid, have granted bargained sold released aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed and Doth by these Presents grant bargain sell release alien Enfeoff and Confirm unto him the said Vincent Loockerman June his heirs and assigns forever all the aforesd thirty acres of Land Together with all and singular the houses Woods under Woods Timber and Trees ways Waters Water Courses Deeds writings Titles Wills rents Profits Privileges hereditaments and appurtenances Whatsoever to the said Thirty acres of land belonging and might Could or should be deemed in law Equity Whatsoever to belong to the said Reuben Phillips and Nancy his wife Each or either of them by Virtue of the devise afsd. To have and To hold the said thirty acres of land and Premises hereby granted unto the said Vincent Loockerman June his heirs and Assigns to the only Proper use and Behoof of him the said Vincent Loockerman Junr his heirs and Assigns forever under the yearly Quit Rents now due or hereafter to become due to the chief Lord or Lords of the fee thereof and the said Reuben Philips and Nancy his wife and their heirs the said thirty acres of Land and premises hereby granted unto the said Vincent Loockerman Jurn his heirs and assigns against themselves the said Reuben Phillips and Nancy his wife and their heirs and against all and every other Person or Persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or hereafter to claim by from or under them or Either of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these Presents In Witness whereof they the said Reuben Phillips and Nancy his wife have hereunto set their hands and fixed their Seals the year and day first above Written Sealed and Delivered in Presence of } Reuben Philips his mark {seal} Nancy Philips her mark {seal}
