This Indenture made this Third day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred Seventy eight by and Between Eleanor Montgomery of Mispillion Hundred in Kent County on Delaware widow of the one Part, and Sarah Montgomery of the ^said place daughter of the said Eleanor Montgomery of the other part. Whereas a marriage is intended shortly to be had and Solemnized between the said Eleanor Montgomery and a Certain Abner Dill of the same County Taylor and whereas the Conveyance of the negro Slaves herein after mentioned by the said Eleanor Montgomery to the said Sarah Montgomery was made by and with the Privity and Consent of the said Abner Dill before any Solemnization of marriage was had between them Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Eleanor Mont Montgomery as well for an in Consideration of the Natural love and Affection which she hath and bearers to the said Sarah Montgomery and for her better Maintenance Livlihood and Suport as also for and in Consideration of the Sum of Five Shillings to her in hand paid by the said Sarah Montgomery by these presents hath Given, Granted, Bargained and Sold Conveyed and Confirmed and by these Presents doth Give Grant bargain Sell Convey and Confirm unto her the said Sarah Montgomery her Executors Administrators and Assigns forever One Negro woman Slave named Peg and her Child named Nero and also all the Right Title Interest Property Claim and Demand whatsoever of her the said Eleanor Montgomery of in and to the aforesaid Negro Slaves Peg and Nero herein above mentioned to be Granted To have and to hold the aforesaid Negro Slaves Pet and Nero hereby Granted unto the said Sarah Montgomery her Executors Administrators and Assigns forever to her and their Sole and Proper uses forever and to no other use intent or Purchase whatsoever, And the said Eleanor Montgomery for her self her Heirs Executors and administrators by these presents doth Covenant Grant and agree to and with the said Sarah Montgomery her Executors Administrators and Assigns that she the said Eleanor Montgomery and her Heirs the aforesaid Negro Slaves Peg and Nero hereby Granted unto her the said Sarah Montgomery her Executors Administrators and Assigns against her the said Eleanor Montgomery and her Heirs and against all and every Person or Persons claiming by from or under her or them or any of them shall and will warrant and by these presents Defend, In Witness whereof the said Eleanor Montgomery hath hereunto Set her hand & Seal the day and year aforesaid. Kent County Ss. Be it Remembered That Jonathan Morgan one of the Subscribing Witnesses to the within Deed came into the Court of Common Pleas held at Dover in and for Kent County and Delaware the thirteenth day of August in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy eight and made oath on the Holy Evangelists of almighty God that he saw Eleanor Montgomery Sign Seal duly Execute and Deliver the within Deed unto Sarah Montgomery with the Negroes therein Specified to be her Right and Property according to the Purport & Effect thereof and that he subscribed his name thereto as a Witness and at the same time saw William Owens and William Ross Sign as two other witnesses thereto.
