Sale and Manumission Renee and her Children from William Killen to Levin Jump 1786

This Indenture made the Seventeenth Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six Between William Killen of kent county in the State of Delaware Esqr. of the one part and Levin Jump of the same county and State Husbandman of the other part; Witnesseth that the said William Killen for and in Consideration of five shillings lawfull money of the said State to him in hand, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the said Levin Jump will and Truly paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath Bargained and sold and by these presents Doth bargain and sell unto the said Levin Jump a Negro female Slave named Rene and her three female children to wit Nell now of the age of four years Nancy and Nan twins or born at one Birth now of the age of four weeks To have and to hold the said Negro female Slaves unto the said Levin Jump his Executors administrators and assigns to with the said Rene during the Term of her natural life and the said three Children until they shall severally and Respectively attain the age of Twenty eight years and no Longer and the said Levin Jump for himself his Executors administrators and assigns Doth by these presents covenant grant and agree to and with the said William Killen his Executors and admanstrators in manner and form following (that is to say) that he the said Levin Jump his Executors administrators and assigns shall and will from time to time and at all times during the Continuance of the servitude of the said Negroes above mentioned find & provide sufficient meat drink clothing and Lodgeing for the said Negroes and Befitting People of their Degree and Condition and in all respects treat and use them with Humanity and a Christin like tenderness. And also that he the said Levin Jump his Executors administrators and assigns or any of them sell not remove or sent neither will knowingly or willingly permit or Suffer to be removed or sent out of the limits of the Delaware State the said Negroes hereby Bargained and Sold or any of them  at any time during the Term of their said Servitude hereby granted; and at the End or Determination thereof shall and will permit and Suffer as well the said Nell Nancy and Nan and their issue as the issue the said Rene may happen to have or Bring forth to go free and at Large as they shall Severally and Respectively attain the age of twenty eight years without Let hindrance or Contradiction in any wise. And it is further mutually Covenanted and agreed by and between the said Parties to these presents for themselves their Executors Administrators and assign respectively either with the other of them and it is the true intent and meaning of the said parties and of these present that as well the said Nell Nancy and Nan and their issue as such other issue as the said Rene shall happen to have or bring forth hereafter and the issue of such issue forever shall be free to all intents and purposes when and as they shall Respectively attain the age of Twenty Eight years as aforesd And the said Levin Jump shall cause this Indenture to be Recorded in the Office for recording deeds for kent county aforesd with six months next after the Date of these presents; and also that a copy thereof from such Record Certified under the hand of the Recorder or keeper of the said Office for the time being and the seal of the said Office; shall be admitted as Evidence of equal force and effect with this Indenture in any Court of Law or equity in this or any other of the United States of America In Witness whereof the said parties to these Presents have interchangeably set their hands and seals hereunto the day & year first above written.
