Deed Charles Griifin & Wife To Matthew Draper
This Indenture made this tenth day of December, in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty five, Between Charles Griffin of Kent County and State of Delaware and Margaret his wife of the one part; and and Matthew Draper of the town of Dover in the county and State aforesaid of the other part, Whereas, the said Charles Griffin did on the Thirty first day of October A.D. 1850 by a Deed of bargain and sale purchase from a certain Sally Ann Lightfoot, all her undivided interest of a certain house and lot of ground, situate on North Street in the town of Dover aforesaid, and now in the tenure of Matthew Draper a party hereto, for the consideration, money mentioned in said Deed, and now of record in the Recorder’s Office, at Dover aforesaid in Book K, Vol 4, fol. 5 and 6, by reference there unto the same will fully appear. And whereas, the said Charles Griffin and Margaret his wife did sell the same undivided interest unto the said Matthew Draper fo the consideration ^ of the sum of twenty Dollars lawful money to them paid by the said Matthew Draper, the receipt whereof the said Charles Griffin and Margaret his wife Doth hereby acknowledge. And whereas, the said Matthew Draper being desirous of a further confirmation of said bargain and sale, the said Charles Griffin and Margaret his wife have agreed to execute ^a deed unto Matthew Draper aforesaid, his heirs and assigns in fee, for the said undivided interest in the said housed lot of ground situate as aforesaid. Now therefore, this Indenture witnessed, that the said Charles Griffin and Margaret his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty dollars lawful money aforesaid heretofore pride to them by the said Matthew Draper, and the receipt where of we now acknowledge, and in consideration of the further sum of One dollar of like lawful money to them in hand paid by the said Matthew Draper before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge, Have and each of us Hath granted, bargained and sold released enfeoffed, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents Do and each of them Doth grant bargain and see release enfeoff convey and confirm unto the said Matthew Draper his heirs and assigns forever. All that undivided interest in a ^certain house and lot of ground which the said Charles Griffin, purchased of a certain Sally Ann Lightfoot – hereinbefore mentioned, and being part, or her undivided share & interest in the real estate of her father George Lightfoot deceased situated on the North side of North Street in the town of Dover aforesaid and adjoining lands now of John Mansfield and others and said to contain in the whole about nine square perches of land be the same more or less, Together with all and singular of the aforesaid undivided interest of the said house and lot of ground) the houses buildings, fixtures, fences improvements appurtenances, rights liberties, privileges and whatsoever thereunto belonging or in anywise appurtaining, and the reversions remainders rents issues and profits thereof either at law or in equity of them the said Charles Griffin and Margaret his wife, of, in, and to the same and of every part and parcel thereof. To Have and To Hold, the said undivided interest of said lot and premises hereby bargained and sold or intended so to be with the appurtenances unto him the said Matthew Draper and to his heirs and assigns, To and For the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Matthew Draper and his heirs and assigns forever. In Testimony whereof, the said Charles Griffin and Margaret and Margaret his wife, have hereunto respecively set their hands and seals the day and year herein before written. State of Delaware Kent County S.S. Be it remembered that in this the 13th day of December A.D. 1855, personally came before me T. L. Davis a Notary Public for the state of Delaware Charles Griffin and Margaret his wife, parties to this Indenture, known to me personally to be such and severally acknowledged this Indenture be their Deed; and the said Margaret Griffin, being at the same time, privately examined by me apart from her husband, acknowledged, that she executed the said Indenture willingly, without compulsion or threats or fear of her husband’s displeasure.
