Manumission Benjamin by James Scotten 1791

Whereas a negro man named Benjamin has been held by me a slave, but being convinced of the errors of slavery, I do hereby, for my self, my Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns, give up all right and title, to the said Benjamin and he is from this time free; No longer subject  to my commands, or under my direction, has right to all the priveledges of any freeman. As Witness my hand this 27th day of Decr. 1791 – James Scotten
