Deed George Lightfoot from Joseph Harper & Wife 1807

This Indenture made the Eleventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven, Between Joseph Harper of Murderkill hundred Kent County and State of Delaware and Hester Harper his wife  of the one part, and George Lightfoot, of the same place free negro of the other part, Whereas the said Joseph Harper did enter into a certain bond of alienation or writing obligatory unto the said George Lightfoot bearing date the fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four therein and thereby binding himself his heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by the same bond in the Penal sum of one hundred and twenty dollars lawful money of the State aforesaid, on Condition that if the said Joseph Harper his heirs Executors or Administrators or either of them do and should well and truly make over and convey to the said George Lightfoot his heirs Executors Administrators or assigns the following described piece or parcel of Ground situate on the North side of North street of the Town of Dover and Beginning at the East corner of a lot or piece of ground lately sold by the said Joseph Harper to James Stewart on the north street aforesaid, thence down the said street and binding therewith thirty five feet to a  corner of a lot or piece of ground since sold by the said Joseph Harper to Ralph Corse free negro, thence with the lines of said Ralph Corse’s lot which is a parrellel line with said Stewarts lot to the line of a lot lately purchased by Jonathan McNatt from Avis White widow and Devisee of John White deceased thence with said McNatts lot about thirty five feet to the corner of James Stewarts lot aforesaid thence with said Stewarts line to the place of Beginning containing about nine square perches of land be the same more or less, with a good sufficient Deed of bargain and sale with special Warranty when he should thereto be reasonably requireed at the property cost, and charge of the said George Lightfoot, his heirs Executors administrators or assigns, that then the said obligation was to be void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue, it being part of a lot of ground which the aforesaid Joseph Harper purchased at Sheriffs sale as the property of Jeffry Bewley free Mulatto, and the said Joseph Harper and Hester Harper his wife being now about to make and execute a Deed of Conveyance to the said George Lightfoot his heirs and assigns forever for the lot of ground and premises above described agreeable purport true intent and meaning of the aforesaid Bond of Alienation or writing obligatory. Now this Indenture witness that the said Joseph Harper an Hester Harper his wife for and in consideration of the sum of sixty dollars like money aforesaid to them in hand, paid by the said George Lightfoot at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Joseph Harper and Hester his wife and themselves therewith fully satisfied contented and paid, and thereof doth acquit Release and exonerate the said George Lightfoot his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever, have granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed Released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien enfeoff Release convey and confirm unto the said George Lightfoot, his heirs and assigns forever, all and singular the above described lot o ground and premises, Together with all and singular the above described lot of ground and premises, Together with all houses buildings orchard gardens fields fences woods underwoods Timber and trees ways waters and watercourses privileges advantages emoluments hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders Rents issues profits and services thereof, also all the Estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said Joseph Harper and Hesther his wife or either of them of in and to all and singular the lot of ground and premises aforesaid either in law or equity or otherwise To have and to hold the lot of ground and premises hereby Granted bargained and sold unto the said George Lightfoot his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said George Lightfoot his heirs and assigns forever and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever, And the said Joseph Harper and Hesther his wife the lot of ground and premises aforesaid against themselves and their heirs and against all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or hereafter lawfully to claim the same from by or under them or either of them will at all times forever hereafter warrant and defend by these presents, In Witness whereof the said Joseph Harper and Hesther Harper his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written. State of Delaware Sst Be it remembered that on the Eleventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven, Joseph harper and Hesther his wife the gators named in the foregoing Indenture personally appeared before me Richard Cooper one of the Judges of the Supreme Court of the state of Delaware and they did severally acknowledge the said Indenture to be their at and deed respectively and the lands premises therein mentioned to be the right and Estate, of George Lightfoot, the grantee agreeably to the purport, true intent, and meaning of the same, and did severally desire that it might be recorded as such_ And I do further certify, that the said Hesther being privately examined by me, separate and apart from her said husband, and out of his hearing, she declared that she signed, sealed ad delivered the said Indenture willingly and freely without being induced  thereto by fear, threats illusage, or compulsion of her said husband, or fear of his displeasure.
