This Indenture made This Twelfth day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and five – eight. Between David Wansley and Sarah Ann Wansley his wife of the Town of Dover of the one part and Charles Griffin of Dover Hundred Kent County and State of Delaware of the other part. Witnesseth That the said David Wansley and Sarah A. His wife for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and fifty Dollars lawful money of the State of Delaware to them in hand paid by the said Charles Griffin at or before the sealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Have and Each of them Hath granted bargained and sold, aliened, enfeoffed, released, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents Do and each of Them Doth grant, bargain, and sell alien, enfeoff release convey and confirm unto the said Charles Griffin his heirs and Assigns, seven acres and eighty five 85 perches of land laying and situated in Kent County and State aforesaid it being a part of the land that the said Wansley and C. Griffin bought in partnership of George Mitchell Adjoining lands of Doc Isaac Jump and Joshua Mitchell & Wesley Dorothy that contained Twenty one acres and fourteen square perches the said Wansley reserving three acres and Two square perches to be hereafter laid out in the road at the south east corner of the land The Balance of seven acres and eighty five 85 perches more or less. And all and Singular the Buildings, improvements, fixtures, ways woods waters, watter=courses, rights liberties privileges hereditaments and appurtenances to the said Charles Griffin Tereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits Thereof and all the estate, rite, title, property claim and dmand of them the said David Wansley and Sarah Ann his wife at law or equity of to in or out of the same and every part and parcel Thereof To Have and To Hold the land and premises hereby bargained and sold or intended to be with the appurtenances unto the said Charles Griffin his heirs and assigns to and for the only proper use Benefit and Behoof of the said Charles Griffin & heirs and assigns Forever. And the said David Wansley and Sarah Ann his wife for themselves their heirs, executors and administrators Doth hereby further grant covinant and agree to and with the said Charles Griffin his heirs and assigns That the land and premises hereby bargained and sold or intended to be with the appurtenances against them the said David Wansley and Sarah Ann his wife their heirs executors and administrators and against all persons claiming or lawfully to claim by Through from or under them unto the said Charles Griffin his heirs and assigns. The the said David Wansley and Sarah Ann his wife. Shall and wlll warrant and Forever Defend. The State of Delaware SS Be it remembered That on this 20th day of March A.D. 1838 personally came before me S. M. Harrington Chancellor of the State of Delaware David Wansley and Sarah Ann his wife parties to the foregoing Indenture and severally acknowledged the same to be their Deed and the said Sarah Ann being at the same time privately examined by e apart from her husband acknowledged that she executed the said Indenture willingly without compulsion or Threats for fear of her husbands Displeasure.
