Know all Men by these presents that we James Sykes Physician and Agnes Sykes for and in consideration of the Sum of twenty pounds lawful money of the Delaware State to us in hand paid by Cuffee Ellis at or before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof we the said James Sykes and Agnes Sykes do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and Sold and by these presents do grant bargain and Sell unto the Said Cuffee Ellis his Exrs Administrators and assigns one Negro Girl named Nancy Ellis aged about eighteen Years now in the possession of us the Said James Sykes and Agnes Sykes to Have and to Hold the Said negro Girl above mentioned or intended to be Sold unto the Said Cuffee Ellis his Executors administrators and Assigns forever and We the said James Sykes and Agnes Sykes for ourselves our heirs Executors and Administrators the Said Negro Girl Named Nancy Ellis unto the Said Cuffee Ellis his Executors administrators and Assigns against us the Said James & Agnes Sykes our Executors and Administrators and against all and every person and persons whatsoever shall and Will Warrant and forever defend and We the Said James Sykes and Agnes Sykes have put the Said Cuffee Ellis in possession of the Said Negro Girl named Nancy Ellis.
