To all people to Whom these there presents shall come know ye that (Whereas I Cuffee Ellis this day Purchased of Agnes Sykes and James Sykes Physician Executors of the Testament and last of James Sykes Esquire deceased) tow of My Children to Wit Nancy Ellis aged Eighteen years and George Sykes Ellis aged Eight Years at the prices mentioned in two Bills of Sale from the aforesaid Agnes and James Sykes to the aforesaid Cuffee Ellis for the aforesaid Nancy Ellis and George Sykes Ellis bearing even date herewith as Slaves And as it is my desire that after a reasonable compesation made to me for advancing the Sums in the Said Bills of Sale that they should enjoy themselves as other Free negroes, do Hereby for my self my heirs Exrs and Administrators liberate Manumitt and forever Set free the aforesaid Nancy Ellis and George Sykes Ellis Respectively as they shall arrive at the age of twenty two years from the date aforesaid and that free from any encumbrances Whatsoever from me my Heirs Executors and Administrators. In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this twenty fourth day of August in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and ninety two. Cuffee Ellis his mark {seal}
