Manumission Richard Brintley from Ann Carty 1792

Whereas I Ann Carty of Kent County and State of Delaware am in possession of a negro man named Richard Brintley, and being desirous of releasing him from Slavery, do by these presents both for my self my heirs, Executors and Administrators, manumit and discharge from my Service the Said negro Richard from the day of the date here of granting him the Same Liberty and Freedom, as if he had been born free. for a further confirmation here of, I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this 13th day of Augt. 1792. Sealed and delivered in the present of us: John Thomas, Richard Griffith.

Be it remembered that on the 15 Day of Augt 1792 Personally came Ann Carty, before me, one of the Justices of the peace of Kent County, and State of Delaware, and did Acknowledge the Within Instrument of Writing of Manumission, to be her act and Deed. and the Said negro Richard Brintley, to be manumited and discharged from her Service. according to the true intent and meaning of the Same – Acknowledged before me. Kent County Delaware. Personally appeared Ann Carty before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace for this County & acknowledged the Within Manumissn. to be her act & deed the 18 March 1793. Geo. Kennard
