Deed of Gift John Robinson to Moses Butcher (Free Negro) 1792

Know all Men by these presents that I John Robinson of St. Jones’s hundred and County of Kent in the Delaware State doth give unto Moses Butcher all that Quantity or parcel of ground which I John Robinson have marked out and fixed the bounders thereunto and that During his natural life Starting from a certain Black Gum her Purnel Lofflands fence which I myself have marked with three notches on the Eastern side and from this tree a strait direct Corse to a certain White Oak marked in the same way Standing Nearly East Northeast from the above marked black Gum and from this while Oak straight to a certain stake fixed on the main publick Road ^and from this stake on the Road opposite the aforesd. Notch’d Black Gum. I do set my hand and seal this fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Ninety two. Jno. Robinson {seal}

N.B. the afforsd. Moses Butcher above mentioned in this ___ of righting is by no means to Sell or make way with this ground but keep only himself.

Kent County State of Delaware 27th Feby 1793 } this day came Henry Bell & Jonathan Shehorn before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for said County and declared upon Oath that they saw John Robinson sign seal and diliver the within Instrument of writing unto Moses Butcher & that they at the request of said Robinson signed said Instrument as Witnesses.
