Deed Zadock and Rebecca Townsend to the Trustees of the African Union Church 1873

This Indenture Made the Thirty first day of August in the Year of our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy three Between Zadock Townsend of the City of Wilmington County of NewCastle and State of Delaware and Rebecca his wife party of the first part, and Isaac H. Peck, Kennard L. Byard Henry Loper Steven L. Nichols, Matthew Manlove, Peter S. Chippey and John S. Wright Trustees of the African Union Church a Corporation of the State of Delaware parties of the second part Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in Consideration of the Sum of three hundred and thirty dollars ($330 00/100) lawful Money of the United States of America unto them well and truly paid by the said parties of the Second part at and before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold aliened, enfeoffed, released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell, alien, enfeoff, release Convey and confirm unto the said parties of the second part their Successors and assigns All that certain Lot or piece of land situate in the City of Wilmington aforesaid bounded and described as follows to wit Beginning at a point on the Southerly side of A. Street, at the distance of One hundred and nineteen feet three inches Westerly from the Westerly side of Townsend Street; thence Southerly and parallel with Townsend Street forty two feet six inches to a stake thence Westerly and parallel with A. Street thirty three feet to a stake thence Northerly and parallel with Townsend Street forty two feet six inches to the aforesaid side of A. Street; and thence thereby Easterly thirty three feet to the place of Beginning be the contents thereof what they may Being part of the Sameland and premises, which Benjamin F. Townsend and Elizabeth C. His wife by Indenture dated the Twenty Seventh day of November A D. 1871 and recorded in the office for Recording deeds &c at NewCastle in andFor NewCastle County aforesaid in Book M, vol 9 page 459 &c did grant and confirm unto the said Zadock Townsend in fee. Together with all and singular the improvements ways, woods, waters water courses rights, liberties, privileges  hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversions and Remainders rents issues and profits thereof; and all the estate right, title, interest property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said parties of the first part in law, equity or otherwise howsoever of in and to the same and every part and parcel thereof To have and to hold the said Lot or piece of land hereditaments and premises hereby granted, or mentioned or intended so to be with the appurtenances unto the said parties of the Second part, their Successors and Assigns to and for the only proper use and behoof of the said parties of the Second part their Successors and assigns forever. And the said Zadock Townsend for himself his heirs, Executors and administrators doth by these presents covenant grant and agree to and with the said parties of the Second part their Successors and assigns that he the said Zadock Townsend his heirs all and singular the hereditaments and premises herein above described and granted or mentioned or intended so to be with the appurtenances unto the said parties of the Second part their successors and assigns against them the said parties of the first part their heirs and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof by from or under him her them or any of them shall and will by these presents Warrant and forever Defend In Witness Whereof the said Zadock Townsend and Rebecca his wife have hereunto set their hands and Seals Dated the day and year first above written. Sealed & Delivered in the presence of James McCabe

Be it Remembered that on this Twenty First day of August in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy three personally came before Me James McCabe Notary Public for the State of Delaware Zadock Townsend and Rebecca his wife parties to this Indenture known to me personally to be such and Severally acknowledged this Indenture to be their deed and the said Rebecca Townsend being at the same time privately examined by me apart from her husband acknowledged that she executed the said Indenture willingly without compulsion or threats or fear of her husbands displeasure Given under my hand and seal of office the day and Year aforesaid.
