Manumission Negro Delia From Peter Caverly

Know all men by these presents that I Peter Caverly of Dover in the County of Kent for and in consideration of the sum of ninety dollars lawful money of the United States to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge Have Bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto Nathaniel Coombes of the village of Camden in the County aforesaid a certain negro Girl called Delia fifteen years of age on the thirty first day of the present month of March to have and to hold and retain in his service the said Negro Girl Delia unto him the said Nathaniel Coombes his executors administrators and assigns for and during and until the said negro Girl shall arrive of the age of twenty eight years which will be on the thirty first day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five and after the completion of the above term of time and the said negro girl shall arrive at the age of twenty eight years she is hereby emancipated and set free to all intents and purposes  and I the said Peter Caverly do for my self my heirs executors and administrators warrant and defend the said Negro Girl Delia during the termof time aforesaid unto him the said Nathaniel Coombe his executors administrators and assigns against the claim or claim demands of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand And affixed my seal this thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve._ Peter Caverly {seal}

State of Delaware Kent County SS } Be it remembered that on the thirteenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and twelve personally appeared Peter Caverly Esqr. before me John Lowber one of the Justices of the peace for said County and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his Act and deed for the use & purposes therein mentioned, Given under my hand and seal at Dover the day and year aforesaid.
