Manumission Phebe from Charles Conner 1796

To all people before where these presents may come, Know ye that, Whereas I Charles Conner of Duck Creek Hundred, Kent County and State of Delaware did on the fourth day Of April last past purchase a certain Negro Girl called Phebe of David McKimmy of the County aforesaid, with the Resolution of Setting her free, whenever She by her Service Should Repay unto me the Sum Princapal and Interst that I Gave for her Viz twenty five Pounds Current money of this State upon Interst from the date. Now therefore Know ye that I do by these presents manumit set free Liberate and forever discharge from Slavery, the above mentioned Girl Phebe after the fourth day of April which shall be in the year one thousand eight hundred and two 1802 Signed Sealed and acknowledged this 25th day of May 1796. State of Delaware Kent County } Sst. 1802 June the 5th. Personally appeared Stuart Redman one of the witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing before me, one of the Justices of the peace for the County of Kent aforesaid and made Oath in due form of Law that he Saw the above mentioned Charles Conner Sign the said instrument as his act and Deed July the 13th. 1802 Abraham Ridgely
